The History of the House
1906 designed by the Berlin government architects Solf & Wichards for Kloenne, general director of Deutsche Bank Berlin, as an exclusive private vacation home for year-round use. The original forest plot covered 12,000 m² and was smallholding (Büdnerei) XII.
“The building is … one of the most important architectural achievements in the Baltic Sea resort. […] a perfect ‘urban villa’ in design and construction […] Characteristic of its architecture, alongside its rock-solid workmanship (with building materials of the very highest quality), is an appealing, elegant sobriety which, using brick surfaces, timber structures and strong roof forms, overcame the penchant for decorative excess and pomp still common at the time.”
(Dr. P. Lemburg, architect and building historian)
1922 the villa changed hands.
1945 it was sold to the Berlin black-market trader Vierke, who used it privately as a vacation home until 1961. It was then expropriated.
1970 the National People’s Army (NVA) took over the house and converted it into a medical facility for the Tarnewitz naval base. New dormers were added in the attic and an apartment was set up for the staff doctor. The staff doctor’s treatment rooms were on the ground floor; a dental practice and a pharmacy were on the first floor.
1991 the house was restituted to Mr. Vierke’s children.
1993 the current owner, Thomas Neuffer, rented the two upper floors
for a real estate office, 3 vacation apartments and a private apartment. A dental practice remained on the ground floor.
1997 Thomas Neuffer bought the house, had it restored in 1998 in line with heritage-protection guidelines and extended it with a period-style annex and balconies/rooftop terraces. The ground floor was used privately, while seven vacation apartments were created on the first and second floors and in the attic.
2003 Redesign of the outdoor area with a rhododendron garden.
2014 the large vacation apartment on the ground floor was created.
Since 2019 The vacation apartments have been looked after and managed directly by the owner.
2021/22 Extensive renovation and themed redesign of the apartments and the Neuffer Ostseeimmobilien office.
