“The golden age is not behind us; it lies in the future.” Paul Signac
Paul Signac (1863–1935), inspired by Monet, ushered in a new artistic era with bright, luminous colors: Neo-Impressionism. For Signac, Impressionism was synonymous with open-air painting, innovation and independence. He studied color theory intensively and explored the effect of pure pigments placed side by side without mixing. His passion was depicting water, its reflections and the sky. Signac lived alternately in Saint-Tropez and Paris, interrupted by long sea voyages. In bright, luminous colors, he painted landscapes, seascapes and harbor views. For Signac, to live meant to paint, and to paint meant to live. He never stopped creating art …
The atmosphere of the “Paul Signac” suite is shaped by ships, harbors and the sea in sunny yellow and blue, with a large, light-filled dormer through which the morning sun flickers at eye level through the treetops of the park. Rustic roof beams create cozy nooks in the living/dining room. Historic double windows and unique colored-glass washbasins in the shower room, which look like rolling sea captured in glass, adorn this suite. A maritime place to feel at home!
“If you want to build a ship, don’t gather men to collect wood, assign tasks and divide up the work – instead, teach them to long for the vast and endless sea.” Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
